Film and theatre director, screenwriter, composer and musician. Graduate of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts in Saint Petersburg. Co-founder of the Ark Theatre Company (Kovcheg Theatre).
Born in Belgrade in 1978, Jugoslav Petrović graduated in Film and Theatre Directing from the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts (SPbGATI) in Saint Petersburg under the mentorship of People's Artist of the Russian Federation Semyon Spivak.
Alongside directing, he has built a strong career in music as a composer, performer and music video director. He is the founder and frontman of the band Straight Jackin, with which he has performed in concerts and developed original music projects, combining theatre, performance, contemporary sound and urban musical culture.
Since 2011, he has worked primarily in the Russian Federation, participating as First Assistant Director, Second Unit Director, Director and Actor in more than 200 television episodes and feature productions.
Together with his wife, he co-founded the professional Ark Theatre Company (Kovcheg Theatre) in Saint Petersburg, where he directs performances, creates stage adaptations and composes original music for theatre productions.
His productions include works by Dušan Kovačević, Vladimir Đurđević, Danil Granin, Aleksandr Ostrovsky and many contemporary authors, while collaborating with theatres in Saint Petersburg, Murmansk and Grozny.
He is currently preparing a new stage adaptation of Actor, Pray, with a planned premiere in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Murmansk, while also working on the second volume of Five Serbian Plays, planned for publication on the tenth anniversary of the first edition at the International Book Fair in Saint Petersburg.
Within the Petrović Foundation, Jugoslav leads the Foundation's film, theatre, music and performing arts initiatives, connecting Serbian and Russian artistic traditions through contemporary cultural production.
